Life and Contradiction

You have the right to remain silent
just as you have the right to make your voice so loud
reverberations are felt throughout the world.

You have the right the remain complacent
just as you have the right to break out of the cave of anonymity and join the struggle for humanity.

You have the right to remain toxic
just as you have the right to understand that a love
once misplaced doesn’t mean you’ll never find it again.

You have the right to remain stagnant
just as you have the right to develop a class consciousness
aware of society’s implicit dialectic.

You have the right to ignore the fact that life is based in
contradiction. That for every choice you make there is
an opposite and every force has another directly opposed to it.

You have the right to remain exactly how you are
but one thing is for sure... One day death will come knocking and you’ll be forced to answer:
                                                         What were you living for?
